Bucuresti
Design project for a demonstration apartment in a building from the early 20th century in the heart of Bucharest.
This interior was meant to embody a unique symbiosis between historical charm and modern aesthetics. Every detail was designed to highlight the beauty and atmosphere of the old city while incorporating elements of contemporary style. The apartment's interior preserves the cozy ambiance of the old center, using warm tones, classic shapes, and decorative elements. At the same time, modern accents, reflecting the latest design trends, give the space a fresh and contemporary character. Artificial lighting, stylish furniture, and functional solutions blend perfectly with the original architecture and historical elements of the interior. Thus, we were able to demonstrate to future owners how to successfully combine the past and the present while maintaining uniqueness and style.
Interior style: modern, with classical elements. Apartment size: 105 m² Year of completion: 2024

The main inspiration and motivation for this project came from the architecture of the city itself. We wanted to showcase the beauty and richness of the buildings and facades in the old center of Bucharest, which has been unfairly overlooked. The rich variety of architectural elements and styles concentrated in almost one street definitely deserves attention. These apartments were considered as potential rental properties for visitors to the city, so our task was to highlight the wealth and diversity of the buildings in this historical part of the city. At the same time, we aimed to avoid an exact recreation of antique interiors, so as not to become absorbed by the atmosphere of an entirely fabricated look. Instead, we interpreted classical elements, incorporating them into a modern context and giving a fresh perspective on traditional forms and styles.

We incorporated all the iconic elements from various eras: stone window and door portals, stucco cornices, baseboards, wall moldings, and double-leaf doors. Since the building has its own boiler room, the entire apartment is equipped with underfloor heating, which led to the exclusion of parquet floors. Therefore, we opted for ceramic tiles that mimic wood. The tiles' textured surface is non-slippery when wet, pleasant to the touch, and closely resembles the texture of wood. We chose a universal natural oak design and applied it throughout the apartment.
